The Lebanese Association for Sustainability and Social Responsibility and the Lebanese House for the Environment Sign a Cooperation Agreement to Promote Active Citizenship, Social Responsibility, and Sustainable Development
As part of their efforts to strengthen community partnerships and expand cooperation in education and sustainable development, the Lebanese Association for Sustainability and Social Responsibility (LASSR) signed a cooperation agreement with the Lebanese House for the Environment on Friday, October 16, 2026. The agreement aims to unite efforts and develop joint initiatives that create a positive impact on society.
The agreement was signed on behalf of LASSR by its Secretary, Dr. Firas Zeidan, and on behalf of the Lebanese House for the Environment by its President, Sheikh Nizam Abou Khazam.
The agreement establishes a framework for cooperation across several areas, most notably educational and training programs, seminars, workshops, and lectures, as well as the exchange of educational resources and expertise. It also seeks to support student development by strengthening leadership skills, volunteerism, and community engagement, while providing internship and practical learning opportunities whenever available.
Furthermore, the agreement focuses on promoting active citizenship, civic awareness, and social responsibility, while fostering a culture of rights, responsibilities, and respect for the rule of law. It also emphasizes raising awareness of democratic values, human rights, equality, diversity, and peaceful coexistence. Particular importance is given to engaging students in environmental initiatives and community service, as well as supporting youth-led initiatives that promote dialogue, nonviolence, social cohesion, and ethical leadership.
The agreement also provides for cooperation in implementing charitable projects and social and environmental initiatives benefiting students, families, and vulnerable communities. In addition, the two organizations will collaborate on conferences, awareness campaigns, cultural activities, and educational events of mutual interest, strengthening partnerships between educational institutions and local communities.
This agreement reflects the shared commitment of both organizations to building a more aware and responsible society, fostering participation and solidarity, and promoting environmental protection in support of sustainable and inclusive development in Lebanon.
Both parties expressed their commitment to translating this partnership into practical programs and initiatives that serve communities, empower young people, and strengthen the values of citizenship, social responsibility, and environmental sustainability.
