Training Workshop on Sustainable Development Goals – Lebanese University: To mark World Environment Day, LASSR held a training workshop titled "Education: A Key Gateway to Environmental Sustainability and Social Responsibility." The event took place on Thursday, June 5, 2025, at the Lebanese University’s Faculty of Economic Sciences and Business Administration (Branch IV) in Aley, running from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

On the occasion of World Environment Day, the Lebanese Association for Sustainability and Social Responsibility (LASSR), in cooperation with the Lebanese University – Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, Branch 4 in Aley, organized a training workshop entitled “Education as a Key Entry Point to Environmental Sustainability and Social Responsibility” on Thursday, June 5, 2025. The workshop was held at the university premises from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

The workshop was attended by the Branch Director, Dr. Zoukan Al Germani, Secretary Ms. Tara Noun, and several administrative staff members, including Mr. Ribal Al Danaf, Mr. Bassam Shia, Mr. Jad Karama, and Ms. Reem Hattoum. Representing LASSR were President and Lecturer Dr. Ramona Al Danaf and Secretary Dr. Firas Zeidan, along with the active participation of approximately 40 male and female students.

The workshop was delivered by Dr. Ramona Al Danaf and addressed several key topics, including the concepts and characteristics of social responsibility, the application of social responsibility principles in universities, and an overview of ISO 26000 practices in education. It also covered the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), with particular emphasis on the following environmental goals:

• SDG 6: Clean Water and Sanitation
• SDG 7: Affordable and Clean Energy
• SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities
• SDG 13: Climate Action
• SDG 14: Life Below Water
• SDG 15: Life on Land

The workshop was characterized by an engaging atmosphere and constructive discussions. Students delivered outstanding group presentations on the environmental Sustainable Development Goals, demonstrating a strong understanding of and notable interest in the topics discussed. Participating students and attendees described the workshop as valuable and impactful, particularly for its combination of relevant information and practical applications.

The workshop concluded with the distribution of certificates of participation, in an atmosphere of enthusiasm and motivation to continue working toward a better and more sustainable environment.

This initiative forms part of the Lebanese Association for Sustainability and Social Responsibility’s (LASSR) vision and ongoing efforts to promote environmental awareness and disseminate the concepts and values of sustainable development through education in Lebanon.
